Our Rebuilt and Blue Printed NC MX5 6 speed transmissions are all updated to or built from the superior NC2-3 design for better shift action and longevity.
Every gearbox is completely disassembled, inventoried and evaluated prior to cleaning. Bearings, synchronizers and springs are among the multiple items replaced. In addition, all of the inferior plastic OEM bushings and spacers are replaced and upgraded to motorsports versions in brass and stainless steel.
Also included with every gearbox is a new Master Cylinder, Slave Cylinder and 1pc braided clutch hose. Shifters will also be fitted with new lower bushing and Lock Out Plate.
Just like our NB 5 speeds, each and every transmision is dyno tested in an actual car to break in and seat all of the internals in a controlled setting. The shift action is verified along with TQ output once the transmssion has completed its break in period. Once recieved, it will be ready for use either on the track or street.
Mazda Motorsports optional gearset is available as an option. These gearsets are of a higher grade 9310 alloy with improved design throughout for both durability, gear engagement and oiling.
The kit includes:
- 2nd gear pair
- 3rd gear pair
- 4th gear pair
- 6th gear
- Input shaft
- Counter shaft
Any type of boosted applications, harsh style clutches and/or racing, is highly recommeded to select this option.
Price includes $1500.00 core charge to be refunded once a useable NC2/3 6 Speed transmission WITH its shifter, that can be rebuilt, is received by Planet Miata.
If sending a NC1 core back the core refund will be $750 and still must be in useable condition with its shifter.

** If you are looking to have your existing NC 6-speed transmission rebuilt and Blue Printed instead of an exchange or to avoid the core charge up front, please reach out to us by phone or email and we can make arrangements.
This method will stick to a strict process of receiving the transmission, a full tear down with inspection and measurement of all the internal components, a thorough cleaning of all the internal parts and the cases themself. Replacement of all the worn and tired items, upgrades where needed and expertly reassembled. Once complete, it's installed and tested on the chassis dyno then shipped back to you.
