Product Overview
NA Tow Hooks
Required by SCCA, NASA and other sanctioning bodies. Fits 1990-1997 Mazda Miata's.
(March 2018 New Design) MiataCage designed and manufactured NA Miata tow hook.
These tow hooks were designed to properly fit the NA (90-97) Mazda Miata. The old version we used to see was just a tow hook that was straight down and only pickup up 2 of the original 4 factory mounting locations and those 2 points are in the same plane.
We designed a rear tow hook that has been improved in many ways:
- It is shorter and curves backwards to fit right underneath the bumper to make it easier to see and use.
- It utilizes 3 of the factory tow hook bolt in points in 2 separate plains.
- It has a provision to tie the car down in the trailer. See optional Tie Down Strap.
- One of the issues with the old style tow hook was that if you tried to tow the car down in the trailer with it, the hooks would bend.
- We have added more material around the perimeter of the large hole for better strength and longevity.
- Powdercoated bright Red for visibility.
NC Tow Hook
Tow hook designed specifically for the 2006-2015 NC Mazda Miata. The tow hook features a custom machined sphere that threads into the factory tow points on the front and rear of the car.
The sphere design allows for the 1.5" wide Kevlar strap to be pulled from multiple angles without fear of cutting, shearing or binding the Kevlar strap.
The length of the tow hook was designed to make it so that the end of the sphere was far enough out that if you were being pulled out by the strap from an angle it would not damage or rip the front bumper off the car.
The tow hook has a place for a cotter pin on the back side of the uniobdy where the bumper attaches. The intent here is that you do not have to completely tighten the tow hook into the unibody. If you thread it in and dont completely tighten it, then when you put the cotter pin in place it will allow the tow hook so swivel to whatever direction it wants if you are beign pulled out by the strap. All of the load is on the threads, not the cotter pin, the cotter pin just keeps the tow hook from unthreading itself under vibration.
